I danced a dozen shows

I’m reaching the end of a run with Taffety Punk - a SE-based devised theater company in DC. The show is in two parts. The first half, which I dance in, is a dancetheater/punk music mashup inspired by Sappho’s lost poems. The second is a movement-heavy adaptation of Anne Carson’s Antigone. The whole thing is lovely and amazing — both to work with these gorgeous texts but also, our theater and music counterparts in such an integrated way.

Perhaps most remarkable — we’re performing this dance for the public twelve times over the course of three weeks. While this might be pretty normal for a theater show, it’s extremely rare for a choreographer to be able to show their work so many times. I feel so lucky to have this opportunity to explore my artistry in this way — to continue evolving and refining our performance and improvisational choices.
